Build an internal operations tool with Dashier
Turn a defined operational workflow into sources, generated admin screens, and governed API access.
An internal tool is useful when it removes repetitive work without hiding who changed important data. Dashier can supply the data-source model, generated CRUD interface, API, roles, imports, and audit history. The workflow-specific rules and external integrations still belong to the application or connected systems.
Choose one workflow
Start with a focused operation: reviewing support escalations, maintaining a product catalog, or tracking event registrations. Write down the record types, who needs to see them, and the actions each person should perform. Avoid beginning with a giant “everything” table.
Model records and actions
Create one source per coherent record type. Give every field a clear type, label, and purpose. Add references when records depend on another source. Use enum values for explicit statuses, and decide what transitions are permitted. Dashier validates field values; domain rules such as “only an approved request may be fulfilled” need to be enforced in the application as appropriate.
Configure access before rollout
Assign system or custom roles based on operational duties. Grant only the read/create/update/delete verbs each team member needs. API callers have their own authentication and route policies. Test denied requests and invalid values as carefully as successful ones.
Move data safely
Use CSV/JSON import previews to map and validate existing rows. Compare sample records in the generated table with their source. Establish who reviews bulk changes and deletes. Use audit history to examine recorded changes; do not promise it replaces backups or compliance logging without verifying your requirements.
Integrate in small steps
Begin with a server-side read from the application's backend, then add the minimum required write operations. Keep API keys out of client bundles, rotate unused keys, and monitor the responses your application receives. Provide clear empty, loading, validation, and permission-denied states in the tool around Dashier.
A good first release solves one measurable operational task and has an owner for schema, permissions, and data quality. Expand to adjacent workflows only after that foundation is understood.
